Building in Judea & Samaria will begin at exactly 6:06 P.M.

September 1st, 2010 1 comment

On September 26th, the building freeze in the settlements will end at exactly 6:06 p.m. Likud MK Danny Danon says the second this time is reached, they will break ground in Judea and Samaria. He will not allow the opponents to extend the freeze any longer than they already have.

Danon told the Jerusalem Post that “opponents of the freeze are already planning a large ceremony in Samaria for that moment, complete with tractors that will break ground for new homes.”

In addition to Danny Danon of Likud, the heads of political parties such as, Yisrael Beitenu, Shas, United Torah Judaism and Habayit Hayehudi have always been strongly opposed to extending the freeze later than September 26th. They believe the settlements of Judea and Samaria are key to Israel’s independence and that Israel must maintain it’s position regarding these areas.

The Fifth World Likud Convention was held in Jerusalem

July 11th, 2010 No comments

The most crucial and controversial resolutions achieved were regarding settlement policies. The Convention discussed the main ideological aspects of the Zionist movement. The participants were divided into three main committees, Policy and Settlement, Education, Aliyah and Absorption, and Israel Advocacy and Anti-Semitism. World Likud takes a strong stance against the claim that there is no value in settling the entirety of the land of Israel. As a result of the convention, World Likud declared its support of the settlers in Judea and Samaria and called upon the government to continue building in the lands of our forefathers. Ultimately, World Likud wants to launch a huge publicity campaign for supporters of Likud within Jewish communities and begin performing tours within these settlements.

The following are some of the main declarations made by World Likud at the 5th Annual Convention:

The July 6th, 2010 meeting of the two leaders went much more smoothly than last time. Many Israelis expected President Obama to urge Prime Minister Netanyahu to extend the settlement freeze in Judea and Samaria. MK Danny Danon has stated that he feels it is Netanyahu’s responsibility to tell Obama that it is the right of Jews to live in Jerusalem, and the world must respect these rights. Danon firmly believes that the Prime Minister must adhere to the right-wing Likud platforms, and make sure building will resume on September 26th in Judea and Samaria.

President Obama began by stating that he strongly believes direct peace talks must occur before the 10-month building freeze in the settlements is up. Obama said, “I believe Prime Minister Netanyahu wants peace. I think he is willing to take risks for peace.” In response, Netanyahu simply stated that measures are being taken to further the peace process.

Israeli Legislator Danon Pushes Netanyahu to Restart West Bank Building

By Jonathan Ferziger – May 17, 2010

Danny Danon, a Likud Party lawmaker and head of its international support arm, is pushing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to make good on his promise to let West Bank settlement construction resume in September.

While a temporary ban declared by Netanyahu in November expires Sept. 26, Danon said today he will mobilize supporters inside Israel and out so the prime minister doesn’t extend the moratorium as a gesture to the Palestinians and President Barack Obama, who is trying to broker Middle East peace talks.

“That’s going to be D-Day in Judea and Samaria,” Danon, who put a virtual hourglass on his website ticking off the minutes to Sept. 26, said in an interview in Jerusalem, using the biblical terms for the West Bank. “There will be an enormous amount of pressure coming from the White House” and settlement opponents within Israel “to convince him the right thing to do is to extend the freeze.”

MK Danon: Netanyahu Lulling Likud to Sleep

by Gil Ronen

“Prime Minister [Binyamin] Netanyahu wants to lull the Likud movement to sleep,” MK Danny Danon (Likud) warned Tuesday. The first-term parlimentarian and former World Likud head, who is one of the more prominently nationalistic Knesset members in the ruling party, said that Netanyahu wants to prevent the upcoming elections to the Likud’s internal institutions so that he can “enjoy quiet on the internal front in the next two years.”

“Our interest is the opposite of that.” he explained. “We must strengthen the Prime Minister by having the Likud and its institutions act in the face of the pressure by the US and [President Barack] Obama. The Likud movement will stand up and tell them – we will not renew the freeze in Judea and Samaria and we will not freeze Jerusalem.”

ISRAEL: New campaign counts down to end of settlement construction freeze

April 23, 2010 | 10:57 am

Also around that corner are several members of Netanyahu’s political party who opposed the freeze from the beginning and eagerly await its expiration date. He had promised them that building would resume after the freeze, and they’re waiting with a stopwatch. Or rather, an hourglass.

Danny Danon, deputy speaker of parliament, is launching a countdown campaign with a virtual hourglass and ticker showing time left on the freeze. It is meant as “a reminder to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we are counting down the days and hours until the end of this mistaken building freeze,” Danon, of the Likud Party, said. “We know that the Americans will begin pressuring the prime minister in May to extend the freeze, and we hope to counter this effort by helping him remain firm in his commitment to the residents of Judea and Samaria and to the principles of our history and his movement.”

Danon slams Indyk for ‘intervening’

By REBECCA ANNA STOIL

Shortly after Indyk’s interview, however, Danon opened a campaign that seemed to emphasize Indyk’s statements. The freshman MK and head of World Likud set up a virtual hour glass to count down the weeks, days, hours and minutes until September 26, 2010 – the day the 10-month settlement housing-start freeze put in place by the cabinet is set to end, at www.dannydanon.com/he/. The clock can be downloaded to computer desktops and mobile phones to serve as a screen saver and will soon appear on popular online news sites.

“This is a reminder to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we are counting down the days and hours until the end of this mistaken building freeze,” Danon said. “The prime minister promised the members of the Likud Party that on the 26th of September we will resume building in these important communities. We are eagerly awaiting that day.

“We know that the American administration will begin pressuring the prime minister in the beginning of May to extend the freeze, and we hope to counter this effort by helping him remain firm in his commitment to the residents of Judea and Samaria and to the principles of our history and his movement.”
