Our strength lies in our unity. As a global Jewish family, we have always stood together in times of joy and in moments of crisis, supporting one another and ensuring that the flame of hope and our shared destiny never fades.
This Hanukkah, as we add light to the darkness, we also remember and reflect on the plight of the dozens of hostages—our brothers and sisters—still held captive by Hamas. They long for freedom, for sunlight, and for a glimmer of hope.
The World Zionist Organization and the Hostages and Returnees Bureau in the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office invite you, our Jewish brothers and sisters around the world, to take part in a global initiative. Together, we aim to raise awareness of the ongoing efforts to bring our hostages home and to shine a light of solidarity for the families yearning for their return.
On the fifth night of Hanukkah, Sunday, December 29, 2024 (28 Kislev), let us unite in prayer and hope. Let us dedicate this night to the freedom of those who remain captive.
We call on Jewish communities worldwide—organizations, families, and individuals—to join this initiative. Light your Hannukiah and include a symbolic gesture in your lighting:
Display the menorah alongside an Israeli flag, a yellow ribbon, a photo of the hostages, or a unique prayer for their release.
Capture this moment with a photo or video and upload it to the dedicated form on our website: www.wzo.org.il/one-light.
Your contributions will become part of a larger mosaic of light—a unique video that we will create to demonstrate the strength of our collective hope and unity.
Each of us is a small light. Together, we become a beacon of strength, unity, freedom, and triumph.
Wishing you a Hanukkah filled with light and meaning.
